Boo Bull Advanced Dancing
We are combining all the club news into one this time. As with
everyone, we are not dancing. The halls we use are not letting outside
groups in. We certainly are missing all of our dancers and
friends. Gary and I occasionally join a zoom group but do not have one
set up for our clubs. We hope everyone remains safe and healthy until
we can once again get together to participate in our beloved
activity. Know that we hold you in our prayers and hearts as we all
live through what feels like an episode of the Twilight Zone that just
won’t stop!!
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to
pass … It’s about learning to dance in the
rain.” (Vivian Greene)
May you all get a chance to dance in the rain until we meet again!!

Copy Cats
Like most clubs right now, the Copy Cats are longing to be together to
dance again. Alas, that can’t happen safely right now so for the
time being we must be content with phone calls, emails and Virtual
dancing on Wednesday evenings. Club members are walking, hiking,
biking, camping, and gardening until we can dance again.
Because our season was cut short by the COVID-19, our wonderful class
of kittens never got to have their graduation so the Copy Cats held an
outdoor, socially distanced, Bring Your Own Everything
‘picnic’/graduation at the Arboretum at Kent Park in Webster on
August 11. The graduation was complete with a ‘test’, special
candle ceremony and award of certificates from our teacher Ron Brown.
At the same event, this year’s Rathke award was presented to David
and MaryJo Webster.
Stay safe!

Dalton Gang
With all the craziness going on in the world, there is nothing really
to report on, except that we are going to dance in a new location at
town hall Angelica if school would still be closed. If anything new
comes up we will let you know.

Dancing Shadows
Dancing Shadows will be offering a Basic Waltz class as soon as the
quarantine is lifted and dancing is deemed safe. (At this point, it
may not be until April 2021, as we hope to be in Florida from late
October until late March.) This will be a beginning level program
designed for new dancers. Previous round dance experience is not
necessary. We also welcome current dancers who would like continued
instruction and floor time at the basic level. We will meet at the
Immanuel Baptist Church, 815 Park Avenue, Rochester on Wednesday
evenings from 8:00 to 10:00.

homeless. We’ve been dancing some Sundays in various
dancers’ garages in the area. We currently limit attendance to
club members and dancing is on a week-by-week basis.

Grand Squares
The weather forecast is for cooler days and nights, but the forecast
for dancing remains the same: wearing masks and keeping 6 feet away
from others—neither of which allows us to gather
comfortably in a square. The best we can do is to keep in touch by
email or ZOOM sessions. I have not heard word to the contrary, so I am
assuming that members of Grand Squares are keeping safe and well and
isolated wherever possible. At this point we have no plans to resume
dancing or get together in person, but hopefully our patience will be
rewarded in the not too distant future. Next Spring marks our 60th
Anniversary as a club, and we hope circumstances allow us to celebrate
this momentous occasion.

Penn Yan Friendship Squares
Penn Yan Friendship Squares gathered for a socially distant picnic on
August 2 and voted to cancel our dances and workshops through December
of 2020 and also our dances in January and February of 2021. Our club
will meet again in December to revisit when to start holding dances
and workshops in Penn Yan. We will sure miss seeing and dancing with
everyone this fall.
We are planning to hold our Watkins Weekend on September 17 to 19,
2021 so mark your calendar! Sam Dunn will be our caller and Lisa
Treichler will be cueing. Those that signed up for this year and chose
to roll it over to 2021 are all set. Mark your calendars and come down
for the weekend, or just for an evening, or all day on Saturday. For
more information contact Sue Irvine at 585-330-9129 or email

Round Towners is an easy intermediate Round Dance Club, dancing a
Phase III–IV level program. A teach or a review, at the Phase
III+ or Phase IV level, is included most evenings. We work on Phase
III+ and Phase IV figures in all rhythms and welcome anyone to join us
who is interested in dancing at this level.
As soon as the quarantine is lifted and dancing is deemed safe, we
will meet on Tuesday evenings from 8:00 to 10:00 at the Immanuel
Baptist Church, 815 Park Avenue in Rochester. Our new space is
centrally located and has a nice wood floor! We are looking forward to
seeing you there.
NOTE: We expect to be in Florida from late October through late March,
so dancing may not start until early April 2021, depending on what
happens this fall with Covid.

Silver Squares
The Covid 19 Virus continues to stop us from square dancing. We
thought we would be able to dance soon but the news is not good. Most,
if not all, of our facilities are closed. Our community is older and
we need to take precautions to be safe. So we continue to find ways to
keep in touch and keep a positive attitude.
Pandemic Squares continues to take place every Wednesday from 8:00 to
8:45. It is a Zoom call hosted by Peter Emmel and our infamous caller
is Gil Porter. It is really a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. It is
also a great opportunity to visit with square dance friends. If you
haven’t joined the zoom call, give it a try! Email Brenda Bixby
at brendabixby152@gmail.com
Silver Squares also continues its weekly walks. Sue Eddy schedules and
organizes walks each Tuesday at 1:30. Call Sue at 585-227-6908 to see
where the next walk will be!
Silver Squares had a Picnic Get Together on Monday, August 3. Everyone
brought their own food, masks, sanitizer,, and chairs. We sat in big
circles and at large, long tables, ate, visited and had a great
time. We had about 35 people attend. Everyone was just happy to get
out and see friends.
On another note, a dear square dance friend has passed. His name is
John McNeil. There are some of you that might have danced with John
and remember him fondly.
John died on Friday, August 7. He was very active in the square dance
community for many years. He started dancing, along with his wife,
Sally, in 1980 at Ekco Squares. During this time, he was President of
the club and danced there until it dissolved. They then danced at
Tecumseh Squares until it dissolved. John and his friend, Don Naulin,
teased that they were getting to be experts at closing down clubs! For
many years John danced at various clubs until he could no longer
dance.
His wife and beloved square dance friends danced at national and
international conventions at places such as Indiana, Charlotte,
Portland, and Toronto. He also helped organize the amazing Fantastic
Fling Weekends.
John had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. Right up
until the first weekend of June 2020, he camped with his square dance
group of 35 years. John was loved by all who met him.

Southern Tier Wheelers
As with so many clubs in our area, we have cancelled our dancing
schedule for 2020. We were so looking forward to having visitors join
us for an evening or a weekend of dancing. We are always eager to
share our love of dancing along with our love of camping. Please keep
watching for information for our 2021 season. Until we can see you
again, please wear your mask, practice social distancing and stay
healthy. Yellow rocks to one and all.

Village Squares
When Village Squares cancelled the Trail’s End dance in June and
the summer picnic in July. We never imagined that we wouldn’t be
dancing again by September. This endless corona cancelling feels like
British comedian Spike Milligan’s lament that he’d missed
breakfast, lunch, high tea & World War II.
In July, Village Squares did meet, mask to mask, in Webster Park for a
socially distanced, almost picnic, and it was great to see real people
and to have non-Zoom conversations.
We also Zoom together from 7:00–8:00 Wednesdays and welcome
everyone in the square dance community to join us online until that
magical day when we can get together again on the dance floor.
