the Hip Boot Boys! We are excited to celebrate our anniversary with
our dancing community. $15/dancer includes dancing and dinner at the

Cloverleaf Squares
Cloverleaf Squares started with a bang with many dancers joining us
last July at our first dance since our anniversary dance last year.
We started dancing for just a couple of hours every Sunday. This Fall
we hope to run full tilt with classes, round dancing, and, of course,
square dancing. We were able to get back into our usual Fall and
Winter venue at the Chili Baptist Church and our Spring and Summer
venue at the air-conditioned Henrietta Fire House.
Our first themed dance, our ice cream social, was just right for a
summer evening. Our next themed dance will be on October 10th; it
should be different yet apropos for the season. It will be
“Fall Veggies Night.”
Jane Avery had us and our square dance friends from around the city
join her in her Brockport yard for a bonfire get-together. We
appreciated her opening up her home for just plain visiting with each
other.
We don’t plan to have our usual “Open House” for
the square dance “curious” but we will have classes with
the hope that we can attract new dancers anyway and to give folks an
opportunity to widen their social life with us. So, please come and
bring your friends.

Copy Cats
As with other clubs, the Copy Cats are looking forward to dancing
with some degree of normalcy as fall approaches. This will be the
beginning of our 50th year. Our actual celebration will be held in
December. Watch for details and plan to join us as we celebrate.
We will resume our regular Saturday dances at the First Baptist
Church of Penfield, 1862 Penfield Rd, Penfield, NY 14526, on
September 11, 2021. See the full schedule on the Dance Schedules page
of the Promenader. We meet twice a month, on alternate Saturdays.
In an effort to get dancers back on the dance floor, the Copy Cats
offered refresher classes during the spring and will be offering
refresher classes for Mainstream and Plus calls on Tuesday evenings
at the First Baptist Church of Penfield(our regular dance location)
beginning on September 14, 7–9 p.m. The Copy Cats welcome vaccinated
dancers from other clubs. A $5 fee per dancer will be requested.
(Reporter‘s note: due to the rise in Covid 19 cases and returns
to mitigation efforts, the plans regarding both the refresher classes
and Saturday dances may be changed as required. Check the Promenader
for updates and cancellations.)
On August 10 we held our annual picnic where Phil LaRussa and Mary
Martin were awarded the Rathke Award for exceptional dedication and
service to the Copy Cat Square Dance Club. They will be moving south
to be closer to family and their grandchild sometime this fall. They
will leave a HUGE hole in our club, but they are welcome to return
anytime they can be in the area.
While we have waited to return to dancing, we are sad to report that
one of our recent Kittens, Donna Spencer, lost her life. We will miss
her sweet smile and warm personality. Her obituary can be found in
the "Photos and Features" section of the Promenader.

Grand Squares
It has certainly been great to take advantage of the Federation’s
free dances and the dance nights offered by other callers and clubs.
As was expected, the situation for dancers using a school for their
dances is still without confirmation. We have been searching for
alternative sites, but obtaining a site that will let us dance
without charge has not resulted in any possibilities. We have decided
to accept the offer to use West Henrietta Baptist Church, 5660 West
Henrietta Road (corner of Erie Station Road) and have scheduled two
dances for September: Thursdays September 16 and 30. Mike Callahan
will be our caller and we would love to have you join us from 7:00 to
9:00 on those evenings. With the uncertainty of finances and the
covid situation, we are only scheduling two dances. We’re still
hoping to be back at Roth eventually, so check the Promenader web
site for further dance dates and places.

Shirts 'N' Skirts
The Shirts and Skirts have been working toward getting back to
dancing with many obstacles to overcome. Our schedule is going week
to week as far as scheduling dates and places to dance. Our dancers
who have come back to dancing are surprising themselves with how much
they are remembering as we start out slow to get those skills of
square dancing back!

Village Squares
It’s been a loooong time since our last dance together, though
many members have been getting around to find whatever dancing has
been available—in garages, gazebos, pavilions, etc.
Some of us even danced in our homes via Zoom, led by our adventurous
caller, Gil Porter and others.
However, the Village Squares’ return to in-person dancing will
remain on hold until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes at a much
lower community transmission level.
Our leadership board has held lengthy discussions around COVID-19
risks and protocols. Even with vaccinations and masking required, the
Board does not believe the Village Squares should begin dancing until
the Community Transmission Rate (CTR) is down at least to Moderate
(Yellow). Some would prefer to wait until it is Low (Blue).
Since the current Monroe County CTR is High (Red—which is two steps
above Moderate), and since our venue has not yet relaxed their
requirement for 6-foot distancing, we have decided to postpone our
re-start until further notice.
When the CTR drops to Moderate (Yellow), we plan to reopen the
discussion and resolve our range of views. At that point, we will set
a protocol (including CTR considerations) that we can all be
comfortable with.
Meanwhile, we encourage those of our members who have a higher COVID
risk tolerance to support other clubs, especially clubs with beginner
classes.
We urge all dancers to keep in mind not only their own risk of
infection, but also the risk to public health that may be posed by
any indoor gathering when the community transmission rate is high.
Please take transmission-suppressing measures like masking and
distancing seriously. They are the only measures that the virus is
unable to evade by mutating into new variants.
