We don’t know where the winter went but we are back from Florida
and ready to start dancing. We began our clubs the 3rd week of May. We
are hoping attendance continues so we can stay at the Henrietta Fire
Hall. If not, we may have to go back to the church we have used in the
past.
Stay tuned for further developments! We are so glad to be back and
dancing with all of our friends.

Many of our dancers attended the Rochester area Dance-O-Rama. It was
great dancing to International caller and cuer, Betsy and Roy Gotta
and Jim Gotta. Our newer dancers especially appreciated the
experience. It also gave our newer dancers our sense of community in
the Rochester area.
We have started our round dance teach at the beginning of May which
will continue through August. Mark Thone began our two-step teach
throughout May and Alice Bubel will be with us until August. Angels
are welcome and will be helpful if there are missing partners. The
round dance teach will be at the Henrietta Firemen’s Hall
beginning at 5:00 pm and will end at 6:30 pm. Our regular club dancing
begins later at 7:00 pm.
We will be having some theme dancing this summer. June 12 is our
Red/White/Blue dance. Two weeks later, June 26 is our Silly Hats Night
and July 24 is Country Night with featured caller, Gary Bubel. August
28 is our ever-popular Ice Cream Social. Be sure to check our schedule
at cloverleafsquares.org from time to time to keep abreast of all of
our theme dances.
On September 18, 2022 we are having our Open House, so keep it
mind. Let your friends and people you meet know of this event. Who
knows, they may become new square dancers. But, at least they will
have fun that evening.

Copy Cats
Copy Cats members and guests have been enjoying our new, Saturday
evening schedule: 7:00–9:00, no early rounds, 2x2.
Valentine’s Day Dance: We had a total of three squares. The
weather was cold with high winds, heavy snow, and white outs! This did
not keep Ron Brown from making the trip to Penfield to call for
us. Thank you, Ron!!! Lots of red apparel was evident. Many pictures
were taken of couples standing in front a huge red valentine loaned to
us by Silver Squares. Thank you to Silver Squares Co-Presidents, Don
Naulin and Anne Granger.
St. Patrick’s Day Dance, March 19: On Friday, March 18, the
Chair of the Board of Trustees of the First Baptist Church of Penfield
gave permission to Rick and Donna LaDonna, Co-Presidents of Copy
Cats, to allow unvaccinated dancers into the facility. Copy Cats
members were notified of this change prior to Saturday’s
dance. As previously requested by the Board of Trustees of the FBCP,
we will continue to sanitize surface areas of chairs, tables, and
bathrooms, prior to locking up. Three squares danced to caller, Dave
Eno. He kept our feet moving quickly and included a lot of unfamiliar
sequences to challenge us. It was a fantastic evening. Thank you,
Dave!!!
Spring Fling Dance, April 2: We gave a warm welcome-back to Mike
Callahan, who had been spending a snowless two months in Arizona. The
dance hall was beautifully decorated with many spring flowers. Thank
you, Debbie Blood.
Our last scheduled dance of the 2021–2022 season, “Save
the Last Dance,” was on April 23, 2022, with Jim Gotta, Caller,
and Lisa Treichler, Cuer. Four squares of smiling, enthusiastic
dancers participated and 10 couples round danced to the expertise of
Lisa’s cues. Copy Cats Officers were elected at this dance.
Due to the necessity of cancelling a dance early in the year
(1/8/2022), a make-up dance is scheduled for June 4, 2022,
2:00–4:00, at the First Baptist Church of Penfield, 1862
Penfield Road.
To maintain our square-dancing prowess and because we love square
dancing, many Copy Cats members plan to attend the three summer WNY
Federation dances. The first: June 18, 1:00–3:30, at the VFW
Post 8495, 300 Macedon Center Road, Fairport. The second: July 16,
1:00–5:00 at Barnards Exempt, 360 Maiden Lane, Rochester. The
third: August 27, 1:00–3:30, VFW Post 8495, 300 Macedon Center
Road, Fairport.
Copy Cats will gather for our annual summer picnic on August 9,
2022. There will be games interspersed with square dance tips, and a
great deal of socializing (catching up on topics such as what did you
do on your summer vacation).
An Open House for new dancers is scheduled for September 20. Basic and
mainstream level classes will begin on September 27. The Open House and
classes will be at the Scribner Road School, Penfield.
Hope to see you on the dance floor!!! We dance at the First Baptist
Church of Penfield, 1862 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY. The Church
enforces CDC guidelines. Check the Copy Cats website,
www.copycatsdancing.org, or the Promenader schedule for any updates.

Grand Squares
We have managed to complete another square dance season, having
successfully overcome several obstacles—returning to dancing at
a school (which does not ask half of what we take in at the door), the
persistence of the Covid virus, winter’s snow storms and
George’s unexpected but serious health problems. This was due to
the financial support of club members, the calling expertise of Mike
and Jim, the presence of numerous guests and the willing preparation
of our dance site by the Roth custodial staff. All these things have
enabled us to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Grand Squares and to
look forward to the continuation of our dancing for months to come. A
sincere “Thank You” to each of you. See you in the fall.

rusty after two years of Covid.
We welcome other clubs to join us on Friday evenings, in our journey
back to square dancing!
We will dance through the summer in our air conditioned room, and will

Silver Squares
If you are looking for something to do on a Monday afternoon, come
over and dance at Silver Squares! We dance almost every Monday from
1:00pm–3:00pm and dance Mainstream, Plus, and Rounds. We dance
year around and are one of the few clubs that continue to dance
throughout the summer. We are located in the Greece United Methodist
Church at 1924 Maiden Lane in Rochester, NY 14626. The cost is $5.00
per person. We welcome anyone who would like to join us. There is no
better place to be on a Monday afternoon for dancing, laughter, and
friendship.
We follow COVID precautions and then some. We attempt to keep all
members informed of any COVID outbreaks in the square dance community
and at Silver Squares. We occasionally ask all members to wear masks
if we feel it is safer. Members are always encouraged to do what they
feel is best for their own protection. We have sanitizer and masks
available at all times. We continue to have individual snacks
available for all members. Please call Don or Anne for any updates
(Don 585-200-0464 or Anne 585-317-6442).
Our theme parties continue to be extremely successful. Our St.
Patrick’s Day Dance, our Pizza Party, Lilac Day Dance, and
Memorial Day Dance were well attended and everyone had a good time.
Our most special dance was our Spring Fling and Silent Auction Dance.
Enjoy looking at some of the pictures of these events!
Looking forward we have a busy summer of fun dances!
Our Flag Day Dance is on June 13th. We ask you pull out your red,
white, and blue dance clothes and come on over and dance!!
June 27th is our Annual Picnic. The picnic starts at noon and dancing
starts at 1:00. Please bring your own lunch and any individual
dessert you would like to share. It is a fun time to visit with
friends.
July 18th is our Ice Cream Social. There is no better way to spend a
hot summer afternoon than enjoying ice cream with friends.
August 1st is a Summer Fun Dance. Come on over and wear sunglasses,
hats, caps, and anything that reminds you of summer. Dance and enjoy
a popsicle or two or three!
August 22nd is a 50’s Dance with Root Beer Floats. Ladies, find
your poodle skirts and men, find your jeans and slick back your hair!
Be prepared for a really good time. Maybe Mike will dust off his 50
songs for us!
Even though Silver Squares dances in the middle of the afternoon, we
have a great time! We have become like a family and we welcome each
and every person who walks through our doors.
Continue to look at the Promenader for any updates or changes and

Southern Tier Wheelers
Well, after the past few years with COVID, we are hoping to get in a
full summer of camping this year. We had a warm start to the season
dancing to Betsy and Roy Gotta for our May weekend. It was so good to
be able to visit and dance with others. So we are hoping that maybe
some of you will join us. Please check the Promenader for flyers for
the weekends. We are, once again, offering our Super Saturday Special
for June, August and September. Gary and Alice Bubel will be the
caller and cuer for these weekends.
On the Saturday of our camping weekend, we will begin square dance
funshops (we don’t call them workshops) at 1:00 and, until 3:00,
our caller will put us through our paces. At 3:15, we begin to relax
and have a happy hour that includes snacks and beverages of your
choice. We may also have games and some time to swim—the choice
is yours. Dinner is served at 5:00 offering a hamburger or 2 hot dogs
along with sides and desserts. Early rounds begin at 6:30 followed by
a regular dance until 9:00. We have a campfire with snacks for you to
enjoy before you head for home. All of this for only $25.00 a
person. Reservations for the Super Saturday must be made 2 weeks in
advance. The dates for the Super Saturdays are June 18, August 13 and
September 10. We hope you will consider joining us for one or more of
these Saturdays and experience the wonderful world of dancing and
camping.
Of course, full weekend packages are available along with trailer or
cabin rentals offered through the campground. Please direct questions,
reservations and payment in advance to Bill and Pat Mosher, 211 Sunset
Circle, Horseheads, NY 14845.
Our emails are patmosher116@gmail.com and wmosher@stny.rr.com.

Village Squares
We are back to dancing—depleted, but dancing. We scheduled two
dances in the spring—May 11 and June 8.
On May 11, we had just over two squares, all very happy to be dancing
together again after such a long COVID gap. We hope that June 8 will
bring even more, but we are happy to welcome however many, or few,
come out to Pittsford to dance with us. We dance from 7pm to
9pm. Check our flyer for details. We do take COVID countermeasures
seriously, including wearing masks at all times.
We plan to take the summer off, as usual, since our hall is not air
conditioned, but we’ll resume in September.
Plans for next season are not settled yet, but we are considering an
alternate-week schedule where we would still dance on Wednesdays, but
alternating weeks with the Grand Squares, who would be dancing in
Henrietta on alternate Thursdays. This is just an idea right now, but
everyone I’ve discussed it with thinks it’s a good
one—or didn’t object loudly enough for me to hear them :-)
