Cloverleaf Squares
Our 2024 “dance card” in January and February was one of
variety and, of course, fun. Cheese Lover’s Night and Pie Night
celebrated the culinary skills of our club members and our Valentine
Dance and Mixer Night added joy and humor to our dance calls. During
our March and April dances, food themes (Peanut Butter Night, Bread
Night) and holidays (St. Patrick’s Day, Mardi Gras) will be
celebrated. Please refer to Dance Schedules for more information about
our dances in the coming months. Please note that there will be no
dance on March 31, Easter Sunday.
Our dancers/club members also enjoyed each other’s company
during a movie/dinner night in February. Also on February 26, we
danced with the SilverSquares, enjoying their hospitality and an
afternoon of dancing. In March we are planning a pancake breakfast at
Cartwrights Maple Tree Inn in Angelica, NY.
Our officers for 2024 are:
President Jim Gotta
VP/Social Calendar Becky Sabin
Recording Secretary Bonnie Swanson
Corresponding Sec. Carl Webster
Treasurer Nancy Tompkins
Contracts Marge O’Shea, Sharon Meyer
WNY Federation Rep. Sharon Meyer
Past President Henry Capron
We thank the numerous dancers from other clubs who join us on Sunday
evenings. We enjoy your company and our new dancers appreciate your
encouragement.

Copy Cats
Our Copy Cats club has been focused on encouraging our 15 Kittens as
they grow in dance competency and develop friendships with each other
and with club members. Our very smart Kittens are learning, laughing
and dancing quite well. They have been introduced to the Basic Calls
and are now beginning to learn the Mainstream Calls. Class time for
our Kittens is every Tuesday from 7–9pm, at Bay Trail Middle
School in Penfield, with Ron Brown calling and teaching.
Our December Holiday Dinner Dance, December 16, 2023, was a class/club
affair. This was the first time Kittens were invited to a dance. We
had over 50 reservations for dinner and many more dancers joined us
after dinner. Not wanting the holiday season to slip away too quietly,
we co-hosted (with WNY Federation) a New Year’s Eve Dance,
December 31,2023 and our club’s New Year’s Dance followed
on January 6, 2024.
On January 20, 2024, our Copy Kittens were the stars of our Winter
Wonderland Dance. They had the responsibility for decorating the
church as well as providing the snacks. On top of which they danced
very well making us all proud Copy Cat parents.
We are looking forward the rest of our dance schedule:
March 2, 2024—Class/Club Dance, Hawaiian Theme, 7–9pm (Jim
Gotta, Caller and Cuer)
March 23, 2024—St Patrick’s Dance, **2–4pm, (Dave
Eno, Caller; Chuck Meyer, Cuer)
April 6, 2024—Class/Club Crazy Hat Dance, 7–9pm, (Mike
Callahan, Caller; Lisa Treichler, Cuer)
April 20, 2024—Spring Fling Dance, 7–9pm, (Mike Callahan,
Caller; Chuck Meyer, Cuer)

Dalton Gang
We have been down for a couple of weeks due to the January weather but
are now back in force. We had two squares going on, January
30, thanks to visitors Anne and Don and Sue and Mitch from the Silver
Squares. All had a good time. On January 15, Bill and Betty and I
joined Batavia Silver Stars for a fun time. On Sunday February 4 some
from Dalton joined Cloverleaf Squares to support our caller Ray
Tompkins for their Valentine’s dance.
On the March 26 we will be enjoying our Pancake Supper at the Maple
Tree Inn in Angelica at 5pm, followed by a dance at the Birdsall
Grange right around the corner, featuring good dancing and a Chinese
auction. Come join us for a fun filled evening!
Our club is always welcoming and having a good time is our nature. We
dance in Castile every Tuesday. We held a benefit dance for C U R E in
August last year, and many of you joined us. Thank you for the
support. We hope to do this this every year, since it is such a great
and worthy cause. August is the month so keep your eyes open for
updates and please come help us for this oh so worthy cause.

Silver Squares
If you are looking for something to do on a Monday afternoon, come
over and dance at Silver Squares! We dance almost every Monday
(Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall) from 1:00–3:00 and dance
Mainstream, Plus, and Rounds. We are located in the Greece United
Methodist Church at 1924 Maiden Lane in Rochester, NY 14626. The cost
is $5.00 per person. We welcome anyone who would like to join
us. There is no better place to be on a Monday afternoon for dancing,
fun, laughter, and friendship.
Our theme parties continue to be extremely successful. We continue to
have 4 squares weekly and sometimes even 5 squares. We finished up
2023 with an incredible Thanksgiving Feast and catered Christmas
Dinner. For our Thanksgiving Feast, our amazing cooks and bakers
brought in an array of different foods for the feast. Forest Hills
catered our wonderful Christmas Dinner and our bakers outdid
themselves with all different desserts. Yes, we also danced!!!
Our caller, Mike Callahan, is wintering in Arizona and Jim Gotta is
our winter caller. We hope Mike is enjoying a well-deserved break and
thank Jim for calling for us. We ushered in 2024 with our Hawaiian
Dance. All kinds of outfits were seen! Don wore his grass skirt and
coconuts. A sight to see!!! We had a Sports Day and Pizza Party, and
our Snowflake Ball. We saw so many beautiful outfits wore by the
ladies at the Snowflake Ball.
Coming up we have several event dances. Our Valentine’s Dance
(2/12), which is a favorite, President’s Day (2/19),
St. Patrick’s Day (3/11), Soup and Sandwich Potluck (3/25),
Spring Fling and Silent Auction (4/15), Skirt and Shirt Dance (5/6),
Lilac Dance (5/13), Memorial Day (5/20), Flag Day (6/10), and our
annual Picnic Lunch (6/24).
Our committee has worked hard to put together a calendar full of fun,
laughter, and lots of dancing! Make sure you check out the Promenader
for any upcoming event details or any changes. Please look under Ads
and Flyers and you will find a calendar through June with individual
flyers for each special dance. We have two theme parties a month along
with our regular fun dances, so there is a lot of opportunity to
dance. Just remember that we dance weekly so dust off your dancing
shoes and come over to Silver Squares
Come join us anytime! Dance in a Square and Make a Circle of Friends

Southern Tier Wheelers
We dance once a month May thru October at the CampBell Campground,
8700 State Route 415, Campbell, NY. Most dancers camp for the weekend,
but walk-ins are welcome at our dances. We dance at the
Mainstream/Plus level with rounds in between each tip. However, our
callers are very good at calling to the floor.
Our posted Schedule Flyer gives details. Note that we now have our
dances in the afternoon to better accommodate dancers who are willing
to travel. Please call 607-857-1553 (Pat) or 607-739-3299 (Bill) to
verify that we are dancing on that date.
See our posted dance flyers (in season) for dance details, and see
the CampBell website (https://campbellcampground.com) for campground
information and local area attractions.
Don’t have a camper???? Not a problem. Give Ed a call at
CampBell Campground (607-527-3301). They have campers and cabins
available to rent. Be sure to mention that you are coming to join us
and they will give you a special rate. If you just want to come for an
evening dance, consider staying for a while after dancing and join us
at the campfire. There is always lots of laughter shared while keeping
warm. There are also several nice hotels in the area if that is the
style of “camping” that you prefer.
We now welcome all dancers to join our club—campers or not! So,
please consider becoming a member and save on the cost of the weekend.

The Village Squares are hibernating for now, having been decimated
over the past few years by COVID and attrition. A few of us are
gathering Wednesday evenings on Zoom, to stay in touch while we wait
for lightning to strike—bringing the spark of life into the club
and making a return to dancing possible.
