A–Listers

Welcome to the first edition of the A–Lister’s club news. Friday night sessions were started as simply the most convenient night to teach A1/A2 to potential Shamrock Square dancers. Since it wasn’t a “club”, the moniker of Happy Squares was reused for Federation membership and insurance purposes. Several of the dancers have requested that Friday nights continue so we’re turning it into a club and the newly adopted club name is A–Listers. The intention is to go year round, but with the Federation summer dances on Friday nights, and with holiday and summer trips, we will not dance several nights during the summer so we’ll keep the schedule page as up to date as we can.

If you believe you are a solid Plus dancer and have interest in some more mental challenge that square dancing offers, see Jim Gotta about getting on the list for A1/A2 lessons.

Cayuga Cut-Ups

Welcome summer 2025, moving to Tuesday nights the Cut-Ups are dancing at Bailiwick’s gazebo for June, July & August! We love dancing at Bailiwick's Market & Cafe, Rt 5, Elbridge. We will be dancing (Mainstream/Plus) from 6-7:30PM; then 7:30-8:30pm for Community Dance encouraging folks nearby to dance with us, as a demo with participation! Bailiwick’s has become very popular since we started dancing there during covid, the food is great, a charming barnlike facility run by an amazing local farm family. They also promote local items for sale--soaps, ice cream, quilts, pottery and jewelry. Never pass on the opportunity to eat dinner there with homemade ice cream after the dance!

Saturday, August 9th, please plan to attend our Annual Anniverary Steak Roast & Square Dance, we are celebrating 64 years of dancing in Cayuga County. We will dance at Vince’s Park building, Seneca Falls, it is air-conditioned with plenty of room to spread out. Ron Brown, Gary Bubel and Alice Bubel will be calling and cueing with a Western Theme this year. Grab your boots and hats for a Mainstream/Plus dance! We eat from Noon til 1pm; dancing from 1-4pm. Walkins pay $10/dancer for the dance; reservations for the Steak Roast and dance is $25/dancer. For Reservations send a check to the Cayuga Cut-Ups at Linda English, 3524 Clinton Rd, Jordan, NY 13080. Steak is too expensive to have leftovers! Looking forward to a great summer, keep dancing.
