As we welcome our newest club: Ithaca Sunday Squares, we now have 16 clubs in the Federation: A–Listers, Batavia Silver Stars, Boo Bull Squares and Rounds, Cayuga Cut-Ups, Cloverleaf Squares, Copy Cats, Dalton Gang, Fun Bunch, Ithaca Sunday Squares, Pairs N Squares, Penn Yan Friendship Squares, Shirts N Skirts, Shamrock Squares, Silver Squares, Southern Tier Wheelers and Waterwheel Squares. We hope you take the opportunity to dance with our member clubs this summer, there are many dancing opportunities.

Please plan to join us for our semiannual Presidents, Callers, Cuers & Federation Leadership Virtual meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 12th at 7pm. We hope you will join us, it is perfect forum to openly discuss challenges and opportunities for our clubs, callers, cuers and the Federation.

We want to highlight some special dances coming up this summer and hope to see you on the dance floor:

• Saturday June 7th Fulton Shirts N Skirts are sponsoring the Elaine Eno Memorial Dance from 1-8pm in Fulton NY. All proceeds will be donated to the ALS Association.
• Friday, June 20th Federation’s Free Friday Night Dance from 6:30-9:30 pm at Perinton Memorial VFW, in Fairport. We are hosting an amateur calling/cueing night along with our callers: Ron Brown, Mike Callahan and Jim Gotta. Free admission to all WNYF Club members.
• Sunday, July 13th Mainstream Summer Dance at the Henrietta Fire Hall. WNYF is Co-Sponsoring this dance with Cloverleaf Squares. Dance Fee $5. Mike Callahan is calling and Alice Bubel cueing 7-9 pm.
• Sunday, August 9th Cayuga Cut-Ups 64rd Anniversary Steak Roast & Dance from 12 noon to 4 pm in Vince’s Park Pavilion in Seneca Falls.
• Friday, August 15th WNYF Free Summer Mainstream Dance at Perinton Community Center in Fairport, NY. Jim Gotta will be calling and Alice Bubel will be cueing, Dance is from 6:30-9:00pm. Mainstream with special tips and Rounds.
• TBD- Dalton Gang Third Annual CURE Dance for Childhood Cancer Awareness from 1- 5pm in Bliss NY. all proceeds go directly to CURE.

If you can’t attend the ALS or CURE Dance, please consider donating to them. Our callers and cuers are volunteering their time to these events. Please check the new WNYF website for flyers and the club news for more details on these events.

DOR 2025
The Federation’s 65th Annual Dance-O-Rama, (DOR 2025) was held on Saturday, May 3, 2025. We enjoyed dancing to Jason Raliegh from Ohio along with Ron Brown and Mark Thone from 1-5 pm at the Perinton Community Center. We had 190 + dancers in attendance. We were happy to recognize 34 graduates during the Graduate Parade. Our WNYF Clubs had a record 62 graduates for 2025. The 2025 Daphne-Norma Leadership Award, highest honor awarded in our square dance community, was presented to Dave Eno, square dance caller and dedicated organizer of the Elaine Eno Memorial Dance.

The club donated baskets for the DOR basket raffle were exceptional this year. The basket raffle is so much fun and everyone seems to enjoy it. So many wonderful and unique items were in the baskets. We appreciate all the baskets our member clubs donated.

Special thank you to everyone who participated in DOR, as volunteers, dancers, callers, cuers, etc. Without everyone’s efforts, DOR would not happen.

Please save the dates for the upcoming Summer WNYF Square Dancing Demonstrations: We will be sending out more information to the clubs and volunteer dancer signup sheets.

• Greece Historical Society annual Strawberry Festival Fund Raiser. More than 500 attendees each year. Monday, June 16th Greece Town Hall Pavilion, 1 Vince Tofany Blvd, Rochester NY 14612 4-7 pm, Mike Callahan will be calling demos at 5 & 6 pm. WNYF will have a Square Dance Information display. (Free admission if dancing only, if planning to participate in the dessert tasting you need to pay admission.)
• Genesee County Fair. Square Dance Demo through Batavia Silver Stars. Saturday July 26th, 3-5 pm, Denny Frey calling. Free entry for participants who square dance.
• Pittsford YMCA Square Dance Demo at Schottland Family YMCA, 2300 W Jefferson Rd, Pittsford NY 14534 Wednesday August 20th, at 1 pm, Mike Callahan will be calling.
• Fall Mystical Family Fun Day at Burnaps Farm Market, 7277 Maple Ave, Sodus NY, 14551 Saturday September 6th, 10 am-5 pm, Ron Brown will be calling. Demo 1-3 pm.
