DOR 2026
The Federation’s 66th Annual Dance-O-Rama, (DOR 2026) was held on Saturday, May 2, 2026. We enjoyed dancing to Dave Eno and Gary & Alice Bubel from 1-5 pm at the Perinton Community Center. We had 191 dancers in attendance. We were happy to recognize 24 of our 36 2026 graduates during the Graduate Parade. The 2026 Daphne Norma Leadership Award is the highest honor awarded in our square dance community and recipients are chosen based on nominations submitted by our dancing community. Last year’s recipient, Dave Eno, presented to Lucy Pietrzykowski of Batavia Silver Stars. Lucy did an outstanding job bringing Batavia Silver Stars back to dancing after COVID and keeping the club continuing, despite the passing of their caller, Bill Ryan.
Thank you to our clubs who generously donated baskets for the DOR 2026. You did an amazing job this year. The basket raffle is so much fun and everyone seems to enjoy it. So many wonderful and unique items were in the baskets. We appreciate all the baskets our member clubs donated. The proceeds from the basket raffle are used by the Federation (WNYF) to host square dance demos, free summer dances for our WNYF Club members, Amateur Calling Dance, New Years Eve Dance, advertising and promotional grants for the clubs and calling school grants for our interested dancers.
Special thank you to everyone who participated in DOR, as volunteers, dancers, callers, cuers, etc. Without everyone’s efforts, DOR would not happen.
We encourage everyone to try to dance during the Summer of 2026. There are so many opportunities to dance with your friends. We hope to see you on the dance floor this summer!
