Wow, this summer has been busy and full with many square and round dancing opportunities. There have been several special dances, fundraisers, community demos in addition to our regular summer dance schedule. We hope everyone had a wonderful summer and enjoyed some of the summer opportunities to dance.
September is a big month for square dancing, our clubs return to their regular schedules and our Open Houses for new square dance classes begin. It is fantastic to know 6 of our clubs will be offering Open Houses and square dance lessons this Fall. Please be sure to share the Open House schedule with others. A long-known fact is: Our dancers spreading by word of mouth about the fun of square dancing, is the best promotion for our classes.
Callerlab’s new 15-week mainstream program was approved and scheduled to be implemented September 1, 2026. (Callerlab is the organization that determines the dance program our callers and cuers use.) Copy Cats with the assistance of Ron Brown tested the new program with a 15-week summer class. The class started with 21 class members. An article reporting on testing the new program is included in this 9/1/2026 website update.
The Federation (WNYF) is always looking for volunteers. If you want to know more what the Federation does, please refer to the 9/1/2026 article “The Federation- What is it? What does it do?
